We Are Broken

Do you think it's possible for a person to be broken?
I don't mean broken bones, broken in by life, or humbled, I mean broken the way a machine or a toy breaks and has to be taken to be repaired.
And what if you're too broken that you can't be fixed, or it wouldn't be worth to fix you because you'd break really soon anyway and it would just be best to discard you for a new person.
Discarding someone isn't hard, but what happens when you are the one that's broken and you've tried everything you can to fix yourself but is hasn't worked, what are you supposed to do then?
It's considered tragedy when a broken person gets rid of themselves, but what were the other options?

I jumped at your title. I can so relate.
I just read a book called "The Broken Way" by Ann Voskamp that explores this whole broken us issue. It is so raw, honest, real and beautiful, I highly highly recommend it and has become a classic for my heart. Every chapter was better than the last, so many things hit me. And they're all spoken from a sincere open heart about the author's own life and struggles. I wish I could share the whole book, but here are two quotes that hit me:

"The most crushing lie a life can hold on to is that life is supposed to avoid suffering, avoid loss, avoid anything that breaks."

"What warms us is the wounded, weeping God who doesn't write any answers in stars but writes His ardent love for us with His wounds. Right into our wounds. Maybe the love gets in easier right were the heart's broke open?"
